About the Company

Founded in 2007 by undergraduate students at Wake Forest University, Biobotz LLC is a company designed to spark interest in science.

Biobotz LLC began in a first year seminar titled, "Harnessing Life's Molecular Machines" at Wake Forest University. Physics professor, Dr. Jed Macosko introduced the class to a handmade plush toy modeled after the walking motor protein kinesin. His envisioned that artistic mediums such as animation, plush toys, and video games could be used to promote interest in science at a young age. For years people have shown great interest in imaginary creatures like Pokemon, or in worlds they know existed but will never be able to actually see, like the age of the dinosaurs 65 million years ago. What if that curiosity about the unknown or the mysterious could be channeled to teach youth about science, starting out at the cellular level and expanding to whole anatomical systems? Science meets imagination at Biobotz as our creativte team embarks upon our mission to entertain and inspire people across the upcoming physicians, scientists, and artists.

Plans for the Future

The Biobotz team will continue involvement in the production and marketing of Cellcraft, an educational video game modeled after our original video game ideas. Participating middle schools in North Carolina will receive the game for free for market testing. Additional schools will receive copies upon request, given that the game proves effective as an educational, yet entertaining addition to the classroom.
